Oven chain and mechanism with a graphite lubricating film
Lubrication applications

Bakery oven lubrication

Graphite lubrication of chains, rollers, rails, and mechanisms in bakery ovens, where heat degrades greases and fumes are not acceptable.

Thermal lubrication of oven chain and roller

Also known as: Bakery-oven chain lubricant · Bakery-oven roller lubrication · Bakery-oven rail lubricant · Low-fume lubrication for food ovens

Graphite film for bakery-oven chains and rollers.

[ Technical summary ]

In a bakery oven, heat degrades grease and produces fumes and residue. A graphite film lubricates chains, rollers, and rails without depending on an oil that evaporates. This record covers bakery ovens; tortilla machines and industrial heat-treatment furnaces are separate uses. The sanitary requirement is set by the plant; no food-contact certification is claimed here.

Each process needs a specific product and application method. ESGRAF selects the solution according to temperature, material, load, cycle, and application method.

[ Problem it solves ]

Lubricate bakery-oven chains and rollers without fumes or grease that degrades with heat.

Processes

  • Continuous bakery baking
  • Oven chain and roller lubrication

Operating conditions

  • Continuous heat on an oven line
  • Environment where grease fumes are not acceptable

When it is suitable

  • Grease fumes or degrades in the oven
  • Chains, rollers, or rails squeal with heat
  • The plant requires lubrication without volatile residue

When it may not be suitable

  • The oven manufacturer specifies a particular lubricant
  • There is direct food contact and the plant does not allow black residue
  • The surface tolerates no black residue and there will be no cleaning stage

Process challenges

  • Heat degradation of grease
  • Fumes and odor in the plant
  • Line sanitary requirement

Advantages

  • Lubrication that does not depend on an oil that evaporates
  • Less fume than oven greases
  • Adherent film on chain and roller

Limitations

  • Does not claim a food-contact certification
  • May leave black residue if over-applied
  • The interval is set by the oven cycle
