Graphite-coated canvas for lubricating friction surfaces; placed between the abrasive belt and contact points on sanding machines.

Canvas with a graphite face to lubricate friction between belt and contact

Graphite-coated canvas for friction lubrication

Graphite-coated canvas (lona grafitada) is fabric or canvas with a graphite coating on one side. It is used to lubricate friction surfaces — especially on sanding belts — by placing it between the abrasive and the contact points (platens, shoes, rollers, or backups).

It typically has two distinct faces: one graphite-coated (working / lubricating side) and one plain canvas (backing). That asymmetry transfers dry graphite lubrication to the backside of the abrasive belt without treating both sides the same.

Typical applications

  • Lubricating the backside of abrasive belts and sanding tapes on industrial machines.
  • Interposing between the abrasive and platens, shoes, or contact points to reduce load and heat.
  • Friction surfaces that need a continuous dry graphite film in roll or sheet form.

Service advantages

  • Reduces friction and wear between the abrasive and the contact backup.
  • Continuous roll or sheet format, easy to cut to size.
  • Two-face construction: graphite on the working side and canvas as support.
