Metal surface with a dry graphite film for weather-exposed equipment
Lubrication applications

Firefighting equipment lubrication

Graphite lubrication of doors, rails, hose beds, and cables on firefighting equipment, without attracting dust, water, or ice.

Weather-exposed hardware lubrication

Also known as: Graphite lubricant for fire doors · Ladder-rail lubrication · Dry lubricant for hose beds · Anti-friction for cable systems

Dry graphite film for weather-exposed firefighting hardware.

[ Technical summary ]

Firefighting hardware stays outdoors and must operate without delay. Conventional grease traps dust, water, and ice, and can stop doors, ladder rails, hose beds, and cable systems from moving. A dry graphite film lubricates metal-to-metal contact and does not turn into paste with the weather. Reapplication interval is set by equipment inspection, not by a general recipe.

Each process needs a specific product and application method. ESGRAF selects the solution according to temperature, material, load, cycle, and application method.

[ Problem it solves ]

Keep firefighting hardware moving without the lubricant attracting dust, water, or ice.

Processes

  • Emergency-equipment inspection and maintenance
  • Exposed-hardware lubrication

Operating conditions

  • Outdoor operation
  • Contact with water, dust, or ice

When it is suitable

  • Hardware seizes from grease mixed with dust or ice
  • Doors, rails, or cables must operate without delay
  • The equipment stays outdoors between services

When it may not be suitable

  • The equipment manufacturer specifies a particular lubricant
  • The hardware is damaged and requires repair
  • The surface tolerates no black residue and there will be no cleaning stage

Process challenges

  • Weather-driven seizing
  • Lubricant contamination
  • Irregular access to hardware

Advantages

  • Does not attract dust, water, or ice
  • Dry film that stays in the contact
  • Less mess than heavy greases

Limitations

  • Does not replace equipment inspection
  • May stain light-colored surfaces
  • Performance depends on surface preparation and reapplication
