Tractor-trailer coupling with dry graphite lubricant
Lubrication applications

Tanker and trailer hardware lubrication

Graphite lubrication of posts, stems, and moving parts on tanker trailers, pup trailers, and transport trailers.

Trailer post and moving-part lubrication

Also known as: Tanker-trailer post lubricant · Pup-trailer post lubrication · Anti-friction for trailer moving parts · Dry lubricant for transport hardware

Dry graphite film for trailer posts and moving hardware.

[ Technical summary ]

Posts and stems on tanker and pup trailers slide under load and outdoors. Grease picks up road mud and stops lubricating. A dry graphite film stays in the contact and does not attract water or dust. This application covers sliding trailer hardware; the fifth wheel is a separate use.

Each process needs a specific product and application method. ESGRAF selects the solution according to temperature, material, load, cycle, and application method.

[ Problem it solves ]

Lubricate trailer posts and moving parts without grease that turns into abrasive mud.

Processes

  • Transport maintenance
  • Trailer-hardware lubrication

Operating conditions

  • Outdoor operation
  • Load and repeated sliding

When it is suitable

  • Posts or stems seize with mud and grease
  • Trailer hardware operates outdoors
  • Less dirt on the chassis and in the yard is required

When it may not be suitable

  • The trailer manufacturer specifies a particular lubricant
  • The hardware is worn or bent and requires repair
  • The surface tolerates no black residue and there will be no cleaning stage

Process challenges

  • Post seizing
  • Contamination with road mud
  • Irregular yard access

Advantages

  • Does not form mud with road dust
  • Stays in the contact under load
  • Less mess than heavy greases

Limitations

  • Does not replace fifth-wheel lubrication as an application
  • May stain light-colored surfaces
  • Performance depends on preparation and reapplication
