[ SYNTHETIC GRAPHITE ]
Molded graphite
Synthetic graphite produced by cold molding and sintering/graphitization. An economical option for large parts.
| Physical and mechanical properties | Value |
|---|---|
| Bulk density | 1.65–1.78 g/cm³ |
| Grain size | 0.5–4 mm |
| Isotropy | Medium |
Applications
Foundry crucibles
Nozzles
Refractories
Large-format electrodes
Synthetic graphite compacted by uniaxial molding and graphitized. It is typically more economical than isostatic graphite for large components with less demanding mechanical or isotropy requirements.
It does not include later treatments (impregnation, oxidation resistance): those are treatments on the base material.
